Fire Safety Scan
The Fire Safety Scan (FSS) can increase your understanding of the fire safety within your own organization and that of your suppliers and/or clients. The Fire Safety Scan (FSS) is a simple tool that provides you with an overall evaluation of fire safety.
The Fire Safety Scan (FSS) consists of 4 sections: Management, Accommodation, Security and Maintenance. The overall fire risk is determined by answering a number of simple questions, which will take less than 15 minutes. An action plan can be created on the basis of the outcomes of the scan which are presented in a report. The action plan can name a person assigned responsibility for further analyzing the risk within a set period and for implementing preventive and/or damage limitation measures. The outcomes of the Fire Safety Scan (FSS) can be sent by e-mail.
By using the Fire Safety Scan (FSS) one or more times per year, greater and better understanding of the fire safety can be obtained and this will benefit the continuity of the organization if it is handled with awareness, which is certainly the case if it is shared with the organization's suppliers and clients.
In addition, the use of the Fire Safety Scan (FSS) can represent an immediate benefit with external stakeholders such as financiers and insurers.
On the other hand, using the Fire Safety Scan (FSS) provides no guarantee that the organization will not end up facing a larger or smaller risk. The Fire Safety Scan (FSS) does, however, help the organization to be more aware of the risks it is facing, as a result of which the risks can be managed with greater awareness. If the correct preventive and damage-limitation measures are implemented the risk and the extent of damage can be reduced, however, as long as the risk is not fully eliminated it shall remain, however small it may be, and the full extent of that risk can affect the organization.
